This post is second in the series which elucidate upon the purpose of our blog and the subjective position on which our project is grounded on.
As stated in the last post, an ignorantly wise person repents of human pretension by being modest. By this modesty, an ignorantly wise subject at the same time practices ignorance. As such, ignorance is never a stable state of being nor an achievement to be gained. Ignorance is a dynamic field which is ever changing and upon which the subject is doomed to tread. This doom is none other than the human condition – human condition of doomed ignorance and dynamic change. Yet this human condition is also a gift which binds people together.
Still, be it a gift or a doom, it still is a human condition from which there is no escape. An ignorantly wise subject, by his or her repentance, takes this condition as it is – not as a gift nor as a doom, which essentially are extensions of said human pretension. An ignorantly wise subject recognizes that from this selfsame pretension stems much unhappiness.
In ignorant wisdom as a subjective position, by modesty we mean acknowledging of one’s limits – which in the human condition are great indeed. This limitedness greatly affects the projects of knowing and human knowledge gathering. A subject can not ever in his or her limitedness attain a state of exhaustive knowledge. In this too humans are doomed and gifted to ignorantly wander the fields of a dynamic world. In this doom all humans share equally – none is exempt from the human condition of limitedness. This highlights the need to strive towards a more collective knowing.
Because of this limitedness of humans, ignorant wisdom promotes fundamental and unrelinquishable equality of everyone. This equality is not based on external factors but on the human condition of limitedness itself. We, as humans, all share the capability to produce manifestations of our intelligence. From this limitedness there is no escape and thus no forfeiting of fundamental equality. By extension, the sentient beings of the world share with us this limited and futile existence which bequeaths to them also the fundamental equality of limited being.
However, being equal does not mean being one and same. The Indispensableness of everyone requires that the ignorant wisdom is not self-absorbent, but rather open to many other views and forms of knowledge. This requires us to be humble towards each other and to truly listen. From this limited existence leaps forth openness towards the world and its sentient beings. Openness will be the theme of the next post.
